Alan Dower Blumlein
Alan Dower Blumlein, the genius electronics engineer who at 21 was solving long distance telephone cross talk issues on the continent. At the age of 27 had filed British patent number 394,325 which was the invention of Stereo and at the age of 38 gave his life testing H2S Radar. During his short but remarkable life, he filed 128 patents.

This is same model of plane that was being used to test the H2S Airborne Radar on the 7th June 1942.
West Mercia Constabulary Tribute - Alan Blumlein
7th April 2008, Princess Anne dedicated a building at RAF Defford to Alan Blumlein and unveiled this plaque. RAF Defford is where Alan Blumlein and his EMI colleagues flew from on the 7th June 1942 and sadly never returned.
IEEE Milestone Award Plaque
On 1st April 2015, Alan Dower Blumlein was posthumously awarded an IEEE Milestone Award. Abbey Road graciously gave the use of Studio 2 to celebrate the event. The plaque that is presented in recognition of the award is now located to the right-hand side of the front door of Abbey Road Studios – what an incredible honour!!
National Academy of Recording Arts & Science | Technical Grammy Award 2017
This is the magnificent GRAMMY® awarded posthumously to Alan Dower Blumlein by the Recording Academy for the invention of Stereo and contributions of outstanding technical significance to the recording field. Alan Dower Blumlein was the 2017 Technical GRAMMY® recipient.
Halifax V9977 Crash Memorial Stone
On Sunday 9th June 2019, 77 years and two days after Halifax V9977 crashed into the side of a hill in Ross on Wye killing all 11 men onboard, a very special memorial stone was unveiled. The memorial stone will forever mark the place where the crash occurred and recognises the terrible loss of life that was also a national disaster during WWII. Alan Dower Blumlein was one of the men killed along with other colleagues from EMI, the RAF and Telecommunications Research Establishment (TRE). H2S radar, being tested on Halifax V9977, was a cutting edge "Air to Surface" radar system that went on to help win WWII.

Audio Engineering Society - ADB Audio Pioneer
The Audio Engineering Society posthumously awarded this certificate to Alan Dower Blumlein on the 2nd March 1978. In recognition of his remarkable work on telecommunications at the beginning of his career and for the invention of Stereo on the 14th December 1931 when Alan was just 28 years old.
